Major League Baseball decided to put a close to their most recent steroid circus and issued out the suspensions for the other players named in the investigation of the Biogenesis Clinic.

Mr. Mertle Award of Excellence

Some time ago Art Vandelay wrote an excellent piece asking why black people aren’t playing baseball. The waning interest has translated onto the field with the declining number of black players in the league. In light of this, we decided to create the Mr. Mertle Award of Excellence. From this day forward this award will annually recognize the best black baseball player in Major League Baseball.

‘Murica’s Problem With America

Get out your hard hat, double up on your supply of Spam and Fluff, check the batteries in the flashlight, store your flag for brighter days (please follow proper flag folding procedures), and direct your wife and 2.5 kids to the fallout shelter because apparently a New-York-City-born Puerto Rican man singing “God Bless America” at the MLB All-Star game is the end of the United States.

Changing the Game

We’re in the dog days of summer. Both the NHL and NBA Finals are over. The NBA Draft has come and gone. Only thing we have to watch as sports fans right now is Major League Baseball ( Sorry MLS, get your weight up). You’d think that the upcoming MLB All-Star Break would be a nice stop gap between the dog days of summer and the start of pre-season NFL Football…. It’s NOT.
